In the ancient town of Siena, there once lived a family named the Montalbanos. They were known for their beautiful home, adorned with intricate wrought-iron ferri on its façade. But little did anyone know that these ferri were not just for decoration, but also served as protectors of the house.

Legend had it that many years ago, a powerful wizard placed a curse on the Montalbanos, declaring that their family home would be plagued by misfortune and danger. The Montalbanos, determined to protect their home and family, sought the help of a skilled blacksmith. Together, they crafted ferri da cavallo in the shape of fierce lions, imbued with magical properties to ward off evil spirits.

These ferri were strategically placed around the house, at a height of 1.5 metres, forming a protective barrier that kept the curse at bay. Any malevolent force that dared to approach the house was met with the ferocious gaze of the lion-shaped ferri, causing them to retreat in fear.

Over time, the ferri became a symbol of strength and resilience for the Montalbanos. They added arpioni with cup-shaped hooks to support cloth for shade or to be dried, allowing them to enjoy the outdoors without fear of harm. As the years went by, the Montalbanos prospered, and their home became a beacon of hope and protection for the entire town.

Today, the Montalbano family is long gone, but their home still stands tall, adorned with the same ferri that once protected it from harm. Visitors from all over the world come to marvel at the intricate wrought-iron work and hear the tale of how these ferri came to be. And even now, in the dead of night, it is said that the ferri still stand guard, protecting the home from any malevolent force that may try to harm it.
